Layering actives without the drama
Most conflicts people worry about are not conflicts. The few that matter are easy to schedule around.
Sample image · Replace with your ownThe internet has convinced a lot of people that actives are an unstable chemistry set. In practice, most combinations are fine, and the ones that are not can be separated by twelve hours.
Safe together
Niacinamide and vitamin C. Niacinamide and almost anything. Hyaluronic acid and everything. Ceramides and everything.
Worth separating
Retinoids and exfoliating acids on the same night — not because they cancel out, but because together they are more irritation than most skin needs in one sitting. Alternate nights instead.
The order
Thinnest to thickest, water before oil. Essence, serum, cream, then oil or sunscreen depending on the hour. If a product pills, you applied it too soon after the last one — wait a minute, not a rule.
